Administration

Numerous volunteer opportunities exist within the Kansas City chapter of STC. Current committee descriptions are provided below. If you would like more information on a specific committee, please send an e-mail message to the committee chairperson for further details.

Programs Committee

Charged with what are perhaps the most important chapter tasks, the Programs Committee plans all monthly programs including topic and speaker selection, as well as logistics and forum. The committee, chaired by the chapter Vice-President, also oversees the planning of all conferences and seminars in which the chapter participates.

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee is chaired by the Public Relations Director and charged with increasing the chapter's visibility in the community. Its most important duties include publicizing the chapter to local and regional media, establishing contacts with local businesses, and preparing brochures and other publicity materials for the chapter.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is chaired by the Membership Director and is responsible for hospitality coordination, member services, retention, member database directories, and mailing lists. These committee members meet and greet attendees of monthly meetings, welcome new members to the chapter, and plan all membership drives.

Newsletter Committee

The Newsletter Committee operates under the combined direction of the President and Newsletter Coordinator. The committee is responsible for publishing The KC Communicator, which keeps local members informed of programs, events, and the goals of the chapter's Administrative Council.

Web Site Committee

The Web Site Committee was founded in 1999 to redesign and maintain the chapter's Web site. This group currently reports to the President and meets regularly to discuss chapter needs and how the Web site can be enhanced to meet those needs. Although some committee members are skilled HTML developers, that certainly is not a requirement for participation. All members are welcome and new ideas are encouraged! See the Resources section for more information on what the committee has planned and how the site is maintained.

Bylaws Committee

The council has decided our current chapter bylaws, written in 1994, need to be updated to reflect several changes in our chapter's operation and vision. The Bylaws Committee will be responsible for reviewing drafts of rewritten bylaws and helping to generate a final draft that can be presented to our membership for approval.
